In the early years of Armenia’s independence, numerous orphanages operated in Armenia, but without sufficient funds, resources, or capital improvements. This led to all sorts of difficulties in providing children with effective care and education.
In 2001, the Foundation participated in a joint effort with the Armenian Social Investment Fund, the Organization of Developmental Services in Armenia, and the Australian Branch of the AGBU to renovate Vanadzor’s main orphanage. Construction was completed in February 2002.
Since that time, children of the orphanage were able to enjoy improved facilities, featuring new interior design, separate bedrooms and living rooms, bathrooms, a new cafeteria, and kitchen.
