SYDNEY – This past month, the Sydney community played host to Antranig Kasbarian, Director of the Tufenkian Foundation, who reported on ongoing resettlement efforts in the Kashatagh region of Nagorno-Karabagh. The visit came at the end of a 10-city tour, in which Kasbarian encouraged various groups to participate in these efforts, while also reporting to those communities (such as Sydney) which have already contributed.
On Sunday, May 30, Dr. Kasbarian delivered a slide presentation at the Armenian community center in Chatswood, describing current conditions in Kashatagh, as well as progress made to date. To supplement the presentation, Kasbarian showed a short film entitled “Our Kashatagh,” which depicts – both starkly and humorously – everyday life in the region.
The following day, Dr. Kasbarian met with directors of the local “Hayastan” All-Armenia Fund affiliate, presenting details of work completed and answering questions. He also met with individual supporters who sought to learn more about the Tufenkian Foundation, its ongoing work in Kashatagh, and how they could help further.
Prior to these events, Dr. Kasbarian also appeared as principal guest speaker at the Armenian Independence Day Dinner, held on Saturday, May 29 and organized by the ARF “Dro” gomideh of Australia.
