“Arevik” Center Opens its Doors in Ijevan City

May 24 was a very special for the children of Ijevan city, the administrative center of Tavush Marz. That day, with financial support from the Tufenkian Foundation and other organizations, the ‘Arevik’ Children’s Social Center was officially inaugurated with the opening of a newly renovated building.   The center’s establishment will support the development of social work in Tavush region, as well as will enhance children and family protection activities. The center plans to work with 50 vulnerable families annually, providing them with social and psychological assistance, as well as organizing art classes (painting, batik, handicraft etc.) for their children. The center will also host a Parent’s Club with the aim of improving the parenting skills of its members.

TF has already been co-sponsoring Metsamor’s “Family and Community” NGO, whose success and the positive work with vulnerable children inspired the idea of opening another center of the model in Tavush region. “Family and Community” NGO’s director Knarik Garanfilyan had significant contribution in the preparation and implementation of ‘Arevik’ center’s social services program.
