Urban green space and other issues

Following on the success with saving the Shikahogh Reserve in 2005, the Tufenkian Foundation was a key leader in the SOS Yerevan coalition that worked with the Kamarayin Chamber music hall to help protect the nearby park from becoming a huge billiard and café complex right up to the door of the hall.

This construction was already partially in place when the coalition organized a series of news events and actions that led to the café owners agreeing to drastically scale back their construction and avoid going too near the hall—thereby saving the hall for practices and performances.

• The Foundation is currently exploring what can be done on other pressing environmental issues that Armenia is facing such as solid waste/recycling, further action on green space in Yerevan as well as air and toxic issues.
